Improve Your Listening Skill with Podcast

 

 

Listening music become the interesting activities if we are listening our favorite songs. We can listen anytime, anywhere, and anything what we are doing with. Nowadays, there are many sources that provide us the audio recording with variety topic. You can check it on BBC Learning English – Podcast or Podcast British Council page.

Then, how do you involve your students with this matter?  You can use Sound Cloud as the media to teaching listening skill. It has been familiar through Sound Cloud we can share our songs or audi recording. Besides that, we can also download or comment to other posts.

And, how you utilize that in teaching listening skill?

First, make sure that all of your students have account of Sound Cloud. Then, divide your students becomes several group with two up to three members. Ask your students to make a conversation of certain topic, discussing about integrating technology in education for instance. Let them record their conversation and ask them to upload their conversation on their Sound Cloud account. Invite all of the students to give the comment of each group work.

Teaching Writing through Instagram

 

 

Our future students are called as Alpha Generation who born in 2010’s. Their daily live will be more familiar with technology than in this era. Children under 10 years are common with social media. As parents we have to be selective in choosing media especially technology for children. Controlling them regularly is also needed in order to make sure that children are in a good path.

Then, when children are in school, teacher replaces the parents’ roles.  That is why being a teacher is a complex things. We should be a role model, facilitator, guider, listener, counselor and certainly their friends. And, related to technology how teacher could do to teach language? Here I have an idea of teaching writing through Instragram.

Instagram is one of the social media that we have been familiar with. This social media allows the users to upload their picture or short video and usually it follows with a description. Here, what teachers can do is involving this social media in teaching and learning process. Make sure your each student has their own account of Instagram. Then, ask them to upload their picture about their own holiday. The students should give the description of that picture. After all of your students uploaded their picture. Invite your students to give comment related to the writing or topic.

Piktochart – An Informative Poster

 

After having a class, students are expected have been understood with the material that were taught. Usually, students write down the whole of material on their book note that teacher gave. Yet, most of students are lazy to review their own writing. As the impact, your teaching are useless and get nothing.

To overcome that problem, you can use interesting strategy through piktochart.Piktochart is a kind of poster that gives information in detail. Students are interested in visual graph than writing. As they like reading comics, playing Play Station, and watching video. I am definitely believe that when students do reviewing of material using poster is easier than reading a lot of text.

So, how it works?

First thing that you should do is ask your students to make a short summary related to topic on that day. Then, ask them to make an account of Piktochart. They are asked to make their own summary using piktochart. For your information, they are many kind of poster and some features provided there, so your students will easy to make it. After that, invite them to upload their poster. Do this through following the semester and let it become one of portofolio.
